View of one of Wilfred Thesiger's Bedouin companions standing in front of Al Jahili fort in Al Ain. In the foreground a man in a white thobe (ankle-length shirt) walks across stoney ground towards a tree. A ruined wall fills the right background. Further behind is the stepped watchtower of Al Jahili fort. In the far background the tops of three palm trees can be seen growing in the courtyard behind the fort walls. This image was taken during April 6-30, 1948, when Wilfred Thesiger stayed at Al Muwaiji fort in Al Ain as a guest of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
