View of Wilfred Thesiger's sailing companions making camp on one of the Abu Dhabi islands. Four men sit in a semicircle beside a cloth tent erected against a low rock wall. Behind them on the left two boys stand watching the men. A third man sits to the left of the standing boys. Flat rocky ground, sparsely dotted with small shrubs and grasses, stretches out in all directions. In the far background, a calm, flat sea fills the horizon. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's week and a half long sailing trip around the Abu Dhabi Islands with Sheikh Hazaa bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Nahyan and their retainers in March 1948.
