Half length portrait of a tribesman of the Manasir Bedouin, whom Wilfred Thesiger met at a Manasir encampment in the Baynunah sands. A tribesman of the Manasir sits in the sand, crossing his hands in front of his chest. He has a thick beard and short curly hair and wears a plain ghutra (headscarf) draped over his head and around his shoulders. Behind him thick vegetation grows in the sand. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.
Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
