Description
View of a member of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking through Al Batin sands, near Liwa oasis, in the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali). The man, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, rides his camel across a softly sloping dune. A baggage camel, tethered to the back of his mount, follows behind him. In the foreground a few bushes grow in the sand. In the far distance at the left a salt flat (sabkha) lies below a high dune massif rising along the horizon.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
