Half-length portrait of a young tribesman of the Rashid Bedouin taken at the encampment of Muhammad, a sheikh of the Rashid Bedouin, near Bir al Tawil in the Ramlat ar Rabbad sands. A young man kneels on the ground at the far left. Camp equipment is scattered in the sands surrounding him. Muhammad and his family hosted Wilfred Thesiger's party at their encampment for a number of days in December 1946 during Wilfred Thesiger's first crossing of the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali).
