View of one of Wilfred Thesiger's guides standing below Jebel Hafeet [Jabal Hafit] mountain. A man in an thobe (long shirt), and ghutra (headscarf), carrying a rifle under his arm, stands at the centre of a rock strewn flat looking towards high limestone cliffs. Low trees and shrubs grow in the rocky soil surrounding him. Behind him jagged limestone cliffs, bare of vegetation, rise high above the flat on the left, and continue into the far distance at right. Wilfred Thesiger spent a week on Jebel Hafeet [Jabal Hafit] hunting Arabian Tahr [Hemitragus jayakari] with Arab and Bedouin guides in April 1948.
