Half length seated portrait of Salim bin Kabina, one of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling companions, in the region surrounding Al Ain / Buraimi Oasis. Salim bin Kabina, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, sits facing forward. He wears a cartridge belt with a khanjar (dagger) over his thobe (shirt) and a headscarf topped with an 'agal (head rope). Beneath his headscarf, his long hair falls down one side of his chest in a loose braid.
