View of a member of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party riding through Al Khatam sands during the party's return journey to Al Ain. In the left foreground one of Wilfred Thesiger's Rashid Bedouin companions rides his camel between ghada (Haloxylon persicum Bunge) trees on a rolling sand flat. A second camel follows along behind him. Ghada trees and other vegetation grow in depressions between low mounds of sand on the plain, which runs uninterrupted into the far horizon. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.
Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
