Description

View of a member of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party making coffee on a rocky plain during their journey from the Ramlat Unayq, north of Al Ain/Buraimi oasis, to Jabal Sumeini. In the foreground one of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling companions kneels next to a campfire in the midst of a vast flat plain. He wears a thobe (long shirt) and a ghutra (headscarf). Firewood is piled up behind the fire, on which a kettle is being heated. Scattered patches of grass grow on the dry ground. In the far distance a tall tree stands in the midst of a vast flat plain. In the far distance on the right a jagged mountain rises above the plain.
