Description

Seated portrait of Wilfred Thesiger taken by an unknown photographer at the southern end of the mountain Jabal Hafit (Jebel Hafeet) near Al Qabil. Wilfred Thesiger kneels in the foreground, resting his hands in his lap and holding a camel stick. He wears a khanjar (dagger) on a cartridge belt and leather suspenders over his thobe (shirt) and a headscarf topped with an 'agal (head rope). In the distance behind him trees and bushes grow on a flat plain below Jabal Hafit (Jebel Hafeet), which rises in the far background.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
