Profile portrait of an Arab man, one of Wilfred Thesiger's guides, riding a camel during the party's journey from Jabal Sumeini to the port city of Sharjah. The man, a retainer of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, kneels in his saddle [most of the camel's body is outside the frame]. He wears a ghutra (headscarf) and a thobe (long shirt) topped with a cartridge belt. He carries a rifle slung under his left arm. In his right hand he is holding a small branch. In the background a few bushes grow in rocky soil.
Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
