Description
Reclining portrait of Salim bin Kabina, a sixteen or seventeen year old boy of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, at a well in the region of Wadi Khawat. This is one of the first portraits Wilfred Thesiger took of Salim bin Kabina. After this meeting Salim bin Kabina joined Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party, and later accompanied Wilfred Thesiger on all his journeys in the Rub' al Khali (Empty Quarter).

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
