View of sailors preparing to hoist sails on a dhow (sailboat) travelling through the Persian Gulf from Dubai to Bahrain Island. A group of sailors stand in two lines on either side of a thick rope. Just behind them a sail is tied to a yard hanging above, and further behind another sail fills with wind. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's May 18-28, 1948 journey by dhow from Dubai to Bahrain Island.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
