Seated portrait of two tribesmen of the Manasir Bedouin at their encampment in the Baynunah sands. On the left a teenaged boy sits in front of a large thick bush next to an elderly man with a thick beard. The boy on the left wears a ghutra (headscarf) draped over his head and shoulders and a light thobe (long shirt). He also holds a camel stick. The man on the right sits leaning on one arm, holding his hand beside his face. He wears a ghutra wrapped around his head and a light thobe. In the background on the right supplies lie in the sand. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.
Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
