View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking through Al Batin sands during their journey across the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali) from Al Dhafra sands to Liwa oasis. A member of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, herds a group of loaded camels up a dune. The man is carrying a rifle and a camel stick on his shoulder. In the background is a large salt flat (sabkha) encircled by high dunes. Clusters of shrubs grow along the right edge of the flat, where it meets the dunes.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
