View of a salt flat (sabkha) with sparse vegetation in Liwa oasis. A large sand depression lies in the foreground, bare of vegetation except for a few small salt bushes growing on the far right. In the distance is a vast salt flat, which is dotted with sparse clusters of vegetation. In the far distance groves of date palms grow along the far edge of a salt flat where it is bordered by high, sheer-faced dune massifs.
