View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking through Al Dhafra sands during their journey across the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali) from Dhibi well to Al Batin sands. Two of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling companions, tribesmen of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, ride camels across the crest of low continuous dune. Each man holds a camel stick in his hand. Behind each man's mount baggage camels follow on leads. The crest of the dune stretches from the foreground into the far distance. On the right a parallel dune chain stretches into the distance.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
