View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking through Al Batin sands during their journey across the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali) from Al Dhafra sands to Liwa oasis. Two members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party, tribesmen of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, lead laden camels along the side of a dune slope. The man in front leads two camels towards a depression in the sand. A second man follows some distance behind him, leading three tethered camels. On the dune directly behind the men a few tiny tufts of vegetation grow. A sand flat can be see in the far distance, just below a second ridge of high dunes.
