Description
Standing full-length portrait of Arab man with camels outside Al Muwaiji Fort in Al Ain. An Arab man wearing a dark thobe (long shirt) cinched with a length of rope holds the head rope of a pale camel standing to his right. The camel is saddled with a number of camel blankets stands facing into the background. In the distance behind him, a number of men and saddled camels mill about on a flat plain. This image was taken between December 20, 1948, and January 27, 1949, during which time Wilfred Thesiger stayed with Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in Al Ain and joined him on a number of hunting excursions.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
