View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party riding through Al Khatam sands during their return journey to Al Ain. In the foreground two of Wilfred Thesiger's Rashid Bedouin companions sit on their camels on a sand dune rippled with small secondary dunes. Behind them large ghada (Haloxylon persicum Bunge) trees grow atop the dune. In the far distance sparse vegetation grows on a distant sand flat and low wispy clouds stretch across the sky. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
