View of a member of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking up a sand dune between oases in Liwa oasis. In the foreground a small tuft of qassis (sedge) grows near the crest of a sand dune in the near foreground. Further back, in the left distance, one of Wilfred Thesiger's Rashid Bedouin companions leads a camel past a patch of scattered grasses and up the bare slope of a sand dune. Behind him the high rolling crests of sand dunes fill the far distance. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.
