Description
Three-quarter length portrait of two men, retainers of Sheikh Shakhbut bin Sultan Al Nahyan, standing in front of a cannon outside Qasr Al Hosn fort in Abu Dhabi. Both men wear ghutra (headscarves) topped with agal (head ropes) and khanjar daggers in their ammunition belts. Behind the men arish huts and date palms can be seen in the background. When this picture was taken Qasr Al Hosn fort was the home of Sheikh Shakhbut bin Sultan Al Nahyan, then ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi (1928-1966).

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
