View of sailors preparing to hoist sails on a dhow (sailboat) in the Persian Gulf near Dubai. In the foreground a group of sailors stand in two lines beneath the dhow's main yard. Above them one sailor stands on the main yard, holding on to a second yard to which the sail is attached. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's May 18-28, 1948 journey by dhow from Dubai to Bahrain Island.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
