Description

View of Bedouin men in front of a tent at a Manasir encampment in the Baynunah sands. A group of Manasir Bedouin men and some of Wilfred Thesiger's Rashid Bedouin companions gather in front of the men's section of a large tent. On the far left a woven palm mat separates the men's section of the tent. Sahail bin Tahi, a tribesman of the Mudairiba lineage of Rashid Bedouin and one Wilfred Thesiger's companions, is one of four men standing in front of the tent (second from the left). Another three men and a boy sit in front of the tent. On the right a woman in a dark abaya carries a load of firewood on her head. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
