Description

View of one of Wilfred Thesiger's Bedouin companions standing in a village in Al Ain/Buraimi oasis. A man stands at the centre of a sand road, next to some tire tracks. In the background an adobe building sits on the left, in front of a date palm plantation. In the centre background is a group of square huts (locally known as arish) made of date palm fronds built on to a slight slope. This image was taken during April 6-30, 1948, when Wilfred Thesiger stayed at Al Muwaiji fort in Al Ain as a guest of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
