View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking across sand dunes between oases in Liwa oasis. Scattered clumps of qassis (sedge) grow in a vast expanse of low rolling sand dunes. In the central distance three of Wilfred Thesiger's Rashid Bedouin companions ride camels across a low dune. Further beyond more dunes rises high above the horizon in the distance. Overhead the sky is empty of clouds. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
