View of sailors working on a dhow (sailboat) travelling through the Persian Gulf from Dubai to Bahrain Island. In the foreground a man walks towards a folded sail and some rope lying on the deck of a dhow. Behind him two sailors stand on the deck, looking back at further group of sailors standing on the cockpit. On the left a large white sail hangs down from a wooden yard. On the right rigging ropes run from the side of the ship up towards the mast. In the background the sky is clear and the ocean is calm. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's May 18-28, 1948 journey by dhow from Dubai to Bahrain Island.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
