Description
View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party at a well in Al Batin sands during their journey across the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali) from Al Dhafra sands to Liwa oasis. Three of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling companions, tribesmen of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, dig out a well while three camels wait expectantly nearby. 'Amair bin 'Omar crouches in the well at the far left. Beside him a man (Salim bin Kabina?) bends over, reaching out with his hand. Salim bin Ghabaisha (third from left) stands beside the well watching the other two men. The sand surrounding the well is littered with camel droppings.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
