Distant view of a member of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party riding along the side of a dune in Al Batin sands during their journey across the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali) from Al Dhafra sands to Liwa oasis. The man, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, rides his camel, followed by a baggage camel, along the side of a softly sloping dune. The dune has many horizontal ridges, which rise up to the peak at the top of the dune on the right. In the foreground is a single dry bush.
