Full length group portrait of Sheikh Mubarak bin Mohammed Al Nahyan standing with retainers of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in Al Ain. Five men stand in a line in a sandy area, each holding a rifle in their right hand. All the men are wearing ghutra (headscarves) and thobe (long shirts) with cartridge belts and khanjar (daggers). Sheikh Mubarak bin Mohammed Al Nahyan stands second from the right. He has his eyes closed and is laughing. In the background low sand dunes and trees sit in the far distance. This image was taken during April 6-30, 1948, when Wilfred Thesiger stayed at Al Muwaiji fort in Al Ain as a guest of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
