Description

View of Wilfred Thesiger's party trekking through the Al Qafa' or As Saruq region north of Liwa oasis. In the foreground a vast open area of bare sand leads to an immense, crescent-shaped dune. Wilfred Thesiger's party, tribesmen of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, leads camels on foot along the bottom edge of the dune. The dune has steep sides which rise into a crescent-shaped crest. Where its slopes meet the open sand, a number of large salt bushes dot its edge.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
