Seated portrait of Sahail bin Tahi, a tribesman of the Mudairiba lineage of Rashid Bedouin and one of Wilfred Thesiger's guides, at a well south west of Al Ain oasis. Sahail bin Tahi kneels in sand in front of a number of water skins lying in the sand. He has a large grey beard, curly dark hair, and wears a patterned wraparound skirt. Behind him a few camels are couched in the sand. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.
Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
