View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking through the Al Dhafra sands during the party's journey to Baynunah. In the left foreground a large bush grows in a stretch of wind-rippled sand dotted with a few tufts of vegetation. In the distance beyond one of Wilfred Thesiger's Rashid Bedouin companions rides a camel across a stretch of sand dotted with a few bushes. In front of him bushes grow behind a ridge in a depression between dunes. In the far distance low rolling dunes continue into the far horizon. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
