Description
View of camels belonging to Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party at a palm grove in Liwa oasis. In the foreground three camels are couched on the ground next to some bushes. On the right a fourth camel stands close to some young date palms. In the left background one of Wilfred Thesiger's Rashid Bedouin companions walks across the ground, leading a camel on a rope. In the background bushes and date palms grow scattered across the salt flat, and in the far distance high sand dunes rise high above the horizon. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
