Portrait of two members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party at a well south-west of the Al Ain, during the party's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis. On the left a man wearing his thobe (long shirt) folded up into his belt stands on the left holding a rope. At the centre Salim bin Ghabaisha, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, holds a leather bag of water for one of the few camels standing on the right. Behind them a high steep sand dune dotted with clumps of vegetation fills the background. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.
Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
