Description

View of a dhow (sailboat) moored in shallow water at an Abu Dhabi Island. One of Wilfred Thesiger's sailing companions wades through shallow water towards a moored sailboat (likely the boat on which Wilfred Thesiger was sailing). White cloth covers the boat's awning, and its sails are tied up. At the far right a number of men load a rowboat from a rocky outcrop. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's week and a half long sailing trip around the Abu Dhabi Islands with Sheikh Hazaa bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Nahyan and their retainers in March 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
