Description

View of one of Wilfred Thesiger's guides atop Jebel Hafeet [Jabal Hafit] mountain. In the foreground an man wearing a thobe (long shirt) and ghutra (headscarf) walks across a flat rocky area towards the right. He holds a rifle in his right hand and has another slung under his shoulder. In front of him a jagged peak of limestone juts out of the mountain on the left continues in a low ridge across the near distance to the right. In the far distance is a vast flat plain marked by lines of sparse vegetation. Wilfred Thesiger spent a week on Jebel Hafeet [Jabal Hafit] hunting Arabian Tahr [Hemitragus jayakari] with Arab and Bedouin guides in April 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
