Description

Half length portrait of a tribesman of the Junuba Bedouin, possibly a member of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party, at Al Muwaiji Fort in Al Ain oasis. The man sits facing towards the right, his head turned towards the foreground. He wears a plain thobe (shirt) topped with a cartridge belt and a headscarf topped with an 'agal (head rope). He holds a carpet on his lap. In the distance beyond Al Muwaiji Fort is visible across a vast expanse of flat sand.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
