Portrait of a man mounted on a camel near Al Muwaiji Fort in Al Ain. An Arab man sits astride his camel, saddled with a few blankets, in a vast rocky plain. The camel stands in profile, facing towards the left, while the rider looks back over his shoulder into the foreground. In the distance behind a few small bushes grow on the vast plain, which stretches uninterrupted into the far horizon. This image was taken between December 20, 1948, and January 27, 1949, during which time Wilfred Thesiger stayed with Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in Al Ain and joined him on a number of hunting excursions.
Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
