Description
View of qassis growing in Al Batin or Al Dhafra sands. In the foreground tufts of long qassis (sedge) grow on a flat stretch of sand rippled by the wind. In the far distance a more vegetation grows in a depression. Behind long chains of dunes run into the distance along the horizon. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
