View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking in the Al Dhafra sands, north-west of Liwa oasis. On the right one of Wilfred Thesiger's Rashid Bedouin companions rides his camel towards a large bush growing in the left foreground. In the distance beyond another member of the party rides across a stretch of sand towards a low sand dune. A few clumps of qassis (sedge) grow on the side of the dune and those beyond it. In the distance the low rolling dunes continue along the horizon below a cloudless sky. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
