Description

View of a member of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's hunting party in Al Khatam sands near Al Ain oasis. In the foreground three camels are couched and one camel saddled camel stands in soft stand. Behind them on the right a member of the party wearing a taqiyah cap and a thobe (long shirt) stands next to a bush. At his feet a peregrine falcon rests. In the distance tufts of vegetation continue to grow in the sand, which slopes up into a low crest in the background. This image was taken between December 20, 1948, and January 27, 1949, during which time Wilfred Thesiger stayed with Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in Al Ain and joined him on a number of hunting excursions.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
