View of member of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's hunting party in Al Khatam sands near Jebel Hafeet (Jabal Hafit). In the central foreground a few clumps of qassis (sedge) grow in the sand. In the background on the left a man rides a camel towards a low ghada (Haloxylon persicum Bunge) tree growing on a mound of sand in the central distance. In the far background a vast expanse of rolling sands dotted with vegetation lead into the far distance, where the mountain Jebel Hafeet (Jabal Hafit) rises above the horizon. This image was taken between December 20, 1948, and January 27, 1949, during which time Wilfred Thesiger stayed with Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in Al Ain and joined him on a number of hunting excursions.
