Description

View of Wilfred Thesiger's Bedouin companions visiting the encampment of Muhammad, a sheikh of the Rashid Bedouin, in the Ramlat ar Rabbad sands near Bir Al Tawil. Six Bedouin kneel around a fire pit and a metal pot. Spread out around the men are pieces of firewood and piles of blankets and equipment. Muhammad hosted Wilfred Thesiger and his men at this encampment for a number of days during Wilfred Thesiger's first crossing of the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali).

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
