View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking across a sand dune between oases in Liwa oasis. Three of Wilfred Thesiger's Rashid Bedouin companions lead their camels on foot across a wide expanse of sand, entirely bare of vegetation, from the near right to the central foreground. In the distance beyond them the sand continues to rise in rolling ridges of sand, dotted with a few tiny clumps of qassis (sedge). High above the ridge the sky is empty of clouds. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.
Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
