View of sailors hoisting sails on the deck of a dhow (sailboat) travelling through the Persian Gulf from Dubai to Bahrain Island. A group of sailors stand on deck along the right side of the boat. Each of the men pulls on one of three ropes attached at a point behind the cockpit. Behind them the sea is empty and calm. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's May 18-28, 1948 journey by dhow from Dubai to Bahrain Island.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
