Description

View of Wilfred Thesiger's party in their camp in Al Khatam or Al Humrah sands south of Al Ain. In the near distance two of Wilfred Thesiger's Bedouin companions stand alongside their camels at their camp. At the centre Mahalhal bin 'Ati, a tribesman of the Al Khamis lineage of Awamir Bedouin, walks between the camels, heading into the near foreground. He has a large full beard and thick dark hair. In the distance a few couched camels sit amongst scattered camping gear and camel blankets lying in the sand, while a fourth member of the party walks with two camels into the far distance. A long low dune rises behind the men, on which scattered clumps of vegetation grow.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
