View of a member of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party descending a dune in Al Batin sands during their journey across the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali) from Al Dhafra sands to Liwa oasis. The man, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, is riding his camel down a steep dune slope. He is followed by a baggage camel, which is tethered to his mount. The sand below the dune is dotted with small shrubs, and a ridge of high, wind-swept dunes rises in the distance beyond.
