View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking through Al Batin sands during their journey across the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali) from Al Dhafra sands to Liwa oasis. Two members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party, tribesmen of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, lead a pack of camels towards a distant salt flat (sabkha). The man at the front leads the camels on foot. A second man follows, riding his own camel with a few camels tethered along behind him. In front of the men is the salt flat, bare of all vegetation. In the far distance beyond are high, wind-rippled dunes.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
