Seated group portrait of members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party in the Wadi Halfayn. The three men sit in the sand facing forward. On the left Hamad, a tribesman of the Mahra Bedouin, kneels holding a rifle. In the centre another man, possibly a member of Wilfred Thesiger's party, kneels in the sand holding a camel stick in his lap. On the right Mahalhal bin 'Ati, a tribesman of the Al Khamis lineage of Awamir Bedouin, sits with one arm resting over his knee. Each man wears a cartridge belt over his thobe (shirt) and a headscarf. Behind them a few bushes grow on a flat plain that stretches into the far distance.
